1. REMINDER — Outgrowing Old Roles
Jim Carrey once said, “I am happy I got the role of Jim Carrey — to play this person that everyone thought I should be.”
He also said,“I wish that everyone would get what they wanted so they’d realize that’s not what fulfills them.”
That’s the trap of roles.
They look like fulfillment —but they’re just costumes.
Roles come with seasons in our lives.
But you are not just a finance guy, or a swimmer, or the construction guy…
You are the sum of those experiences — yet not defined by any one of them.
Like Carrey said, playing the role is not the same as being fulfilled.
What people expect of you is not always what God placed in you.
That means looking back at old roles and stripping off the identities your family, mentors, or past relationships gave you — so you can step into the one God is calling you toward.
What does that actually look like?
Sometimes it means saying no to the immigrant parents’ dream of becoming a doctor through you — saying f@#$ it and moving to Denver, learning to love life in new ways.
Sometimes it means saying, I love you, but I have to let you go,
to find myself with my best friend.
These moments reflect CROW: the pursuit of building a nest, caring for it — but also breeding gifts to the world that shine, and leave the nest in beauty.
Even Jesus encourages us to shine outward:
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing,
and they will do even greater things than these…” — John 14:12
Questions to sit with:
What identity have I outgrown — but keep wearing anyway?
How can I allow the Holy Spirit to completely transform me?
How can I quiet the noise so I can hear God’s call more clearly?
→ Nests are meant to launch. The gift God gave you isn’t for the nest — it’s for the world.
2. RHYTHM — Values Over Ads
Decentralization. Decentralization. Decentralization.
⚠ WARNING: For the next 10 lines, I may sound like I’m starting a cult…
OUR DAY-TO-DAY IS DICTATED BY BIG BROTHER.
FROM WHAT WE WATCH,
TO WHAT WE EAT,
TO HOW WE THINK ABOUT OURSELVES.BUT WE SAY NO MORE!
CROW is taking a stand:
no ads, no doomscroll algorithms.
Only values-based experiences.
We build on what matters.
We vet local groups.
We hold vendors accountable.
Because every dollar and every minute of attention is a vote.
And we believe in voting for values — not noise.
